In a nutshell, this dentistry office is:
Honest
Accommodating
Trustworthy
Respectful
Affordable and friendly rates
I urged to receive a procedure that was softly recommended by my home dentist over the phone due to some pain in a tooth.
However, the dentist here did a thorough checkup and his first instinct was that the issue is not what I am assuming. I was persistent, so to ensure my health and prevent me from any rash decisions with my delicate teeth, he offered complimentary Xrays which visually demonstrated his point. I am beyond grateful because it gave me the peace of mind and he was more interested in a truthful resolution than convincing me into some procedure that I easily could have been lured into!
A+ to this office, so grateful I can trust that their intent is not to send me with a big bill or unnecessary aches :)
As a cherry on top the entire staff from the dentist, hygienist, Josh/Daniel and X ray team - are all so well versed in their respective roles. A truly collaborative approach to healing a patient while also remaining one of the most affordable dentistry offices. The team ensures to book patients quite strategically to ensure patients do not have to wait a long time between specialists. A highly organized team that was not at all eager to sell me products/procedures but expressed genuine care and curiosity in discovering the root of the tooth pain. Only experienced dentists have the curiosity to truly get to the bottom of the problem, and best of all, he did!!!
Thabk you Waialae Dentristy!

First of all I don't recommend no one to come here. Couple years ago they work on my front tooth that was a little crack in the back of it. They did a root canal and just recently my tooth came out!! Went there to see what need to be done. They recommend to extraction of some part of the tooth which they said remove the other 2 tooth in the front to do a bridge that they will only credit me $1,100 which that I paid over $2,000. No breakdown sheet on how they going quote me. Instead they only had a yellow piece of paper with the numbers they want to charge me. They said they called my dental insurance & which I know the guy lied!! The insurance company mentioned to me that no one called!! My opinion they should fix this problem and don't charge me!!
Previous I saw someone review this person had emergency work need to be done. Somehow their insurance didn't cover. Instead they didn't charge to this person.
So when they know they did a error or never did it correctly and why the tooth came out after a root canal has been done!!!
SO DON'T COME HERE!!

Make sure get everything in writing about when they want to arrangement on the quote regarding they said. I know for a fact & I heard what they said!!! Not going charge for the extraction of the remaining of the root left. Now they want to credit me $800.00 instead of $1100.00!!! It's not worth it paying close to $4,000 to put a bridge.
THIS PLACE IS A JOKE!!! ALSO NEVER DID A GOOD JOB ON THR ROOT CANAL AND WHY THE TOOTH STILL COME OUT!

Really liked my experience with this dental clinic. Staff is very helpful. Appointments are on time. Dr Chun took his time to explain my issue. I also feel they are honest - do not push you to opt for services you don't need.

Went in for a check up. Was told to opt for X-Rays because the whole appointment would be free if I did as it was my first visit. 3 months later I get a bill in my email saying I was already overdue and had multiple late fees applied. Took 2 hours to resolve over the phone, appointment was not free. I don’t know if the doctor I got was just having a bad day, but the whole appointment just felt like an interrogation. 10/10 do not recommend and will never be back to this dentist or any of their affiliate “Kokua Smiles” dentists.

Not bad! Dentists and dental hygienists are friendly and to the point. Flexible scheduling is great and being able to get cleanings on weekends is a game changer. The front office though, is disorganized, specifically with billing. Every time I’ve gone to pay, the total changes. Every. Time. Save yourself the headache and anxiety and go elsewhere.

Horrible location. Told it would be ~$100 charge. Instead charged over $350 to put paste on my teeth. The same exact thing at 2 other dentists in Oahu cost under $100. Avoid this location if you can, the charges are ridiculous.
Then they couldnt find my insurance and blamed it on me. Once i asked them to double check 3 times they did and found it. Afterwards it took them 30 min just to put in my insurance info. Incredibly unprofessional.
Definitely avoid this location.

I had thousands of dollars of new crowns done by a kind young dentist but he was going to redo 3 front ones as the center line was off. After his suggested rest period, I returned for that and he was no longer there. Long story short I ended up with the business owner for the worst rough painful experience in a dental chair ever! 3 days of the worst pain and he did not even return my call. He replaced only 2 front teeth, not able to correct center line, and jammed in two new, too large, too white crowns and I look like bucky beever! They cannot be redone as gums can't take it. When I called to have bite adjusted I was told I was not welcome in that office again! My deceased husband of 20 years was a successful Dentist who NEVER ever treated a patient as I was treated and always stood behind his work. Waialae Dental owner only cares about the money! For serious dental care, go elsewhere.

This place is running an absolute sham of a dental office and I hope they go out of business.
As a dental assistant and surg tech in periodontics it is my responsibility to stick up for patients who I believe are being lied to/taken advantage of.
Waialae dental messed up my friend’s PERFECT teeth. Told her she bad cavities when she didn’t. Used wrong anesthetic for procedure. Did not listen to her when she complained of pain during and after procedure. She ended up having to go to Diamond Head Dental for emergency revision.
When I went to Waialae dental with my friend to confront them and demand money back, as well as a print out of her entire chart and patient and procedure notes, they said “that will be 15 cents per page”. LOL (scummy move). I told them denying a patient of their medical records is against HIPAA. They got really quiet after that….
Pilau business practices here. It’s “big dental” and will do whatever it takes to get the most money out of you. I’m almost certain this practice is not even owned by a DDS, I think it’s owned by a business manager 👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼

I had 2 great experiences with the cleanings; however, I had to get a crown.
It has taken 3 months and still no resolution on the billing statement that shows I owe money that is over 60 & 90 days old. I actually paid the amount I was told when services were rendered.
My credit score has suffered due to this billing error. Please check all your statements carefully and make sure to get estimates and payment receipts for any services performed.
This is my 2nd cleaning with Wai’alae Dental Care and I really enjoy how professional and friendly the staff is.
Preventive care is really important to me. I also like how quickly the staff can email or give me the diagnosis and x-rays for my own personal self-care routine.
Thank you.

My family and I has been seeing the dentist here for almost three years, and we are always happy with the level of care we receive. The front desk is very courteous and helpful. The dentists here are amazing. The two doctors that see us are Dr. Dennis and Dr. Matt. I highly recommend both of them! We will definitely will be coming back, as we have been!
