Dr. Montoya and the Wednesday team of hygienists and support staff may have single-handedly saved my opinion of Adventure Dental Longmont!
I have long lamented the sort of “conveyor belt” style of dentistry that has – up to now- been my experience at A.D. It always seemed over booked and over crowded, to the point where quality dentistry was back seat to pumping through as many children as possible.
This was anything but true at our most recent visit, Wednesday 9/23/20, with my 17 and 3 year old daughters. I think we can thank Covid restrictions on how many patients can be seen for the vastly improved energy of calm and patience in the office overall, but our hygienists (two who I had not met or seen before) and especially Dr. Montoya, the Dentist who worked with my youngest (also new to us), were personally responsible for such a quality visit. My 3 year old has had issues with “calcification” on the back side of her teeth. This requires intense scraping “scaling” to clean it off every few months. Unlike the other dentist who treated her, Dr. Montoya took time to coach me on the sneaky little strategies that would help me be successful in cleaning her teeth better between visits. She did this without making me feel like a bad parent, without judgement, and with laughter and relatability about her personal experiences with her own two year old. Then, while she scraped this hard and sticky stuff off of my daughter’s teeth, she spoke gentle sweetnesses and even sang to her throughout the treatment. The babe cried and screamed the whole time, but Dr. Montoya struck the balance between efficiency and thoroughness: she was quick but not rushed, and in the end I could clearly see that she had gotten all of the crud off of the little teeth. (This was not the case with the other dentist we saw on previous visits.)
Once finished, the babe was so worked up she started gagging and threw up on herself before the hygienist whisked in the trashcan to catch the rest. Within moments we had warm wet towels for clean-up and even a fresh shirt to put on! After I had deposited the babe in the arms of her sister to wait while I handled payment and re-scheduling, I was again happily shocked; although my older kids still have insurance through their dad, we have to self-pay for the 3 year old. I was dumbfounded when the TOTAL BILL was only 19 dollars!!! I thought for sure this was a “co-pay” or “installment” so I asked more than one of ladies behind the desk if I could just go ahead and pay in full rather than be billed for the rest. Finally the office manager came and explained that that WAS the total bill and why. We all laughed at my disbelief and amazement.
Taking children to the dentist is no fun anyway, but since dealing with my littlest’s issues I was becoming more and more convinced that Adventure Dental would not be able to continue to serve my family’s needs. I am so grateful for the full about-face that we experienced this week. I’m sorry I don’t have everyone’s names, because I would like to make sure they all know my gratitude. And Dr. Montoya, BRAVO! You are officially our “Tooth Fairy” and we will be seeking you out specifically from here on out! Thanks!

Play area was crowded with screaming kids, wearing shoes (it’s a shoe-free area) and eating food (it’s a food-free area). My daughter (younger than them) tried to play but they were rude and not letting her go up and down the slide. No parent was there to make them behave. Unfortunately, we were called late for our appointment too. The girl who assisted us didn’t have much savoir faire with children and made my daughter nervous of the procedures. Not sure if I will go back again, although the doctor herself was wonderful.

Very impressed with how quickly we got an appointment! Dr.’s were excellent with my grandson, who is on the spectrum and suffers anxiety. They were very kind and kept reassuring him. A+

AWFUL!!!! My poor child had the most traumatic experience here! They used restraints on her when the laughing gas didn’t work and they were so tight she had fabric burns on her arms after they took them off... they told my mom sedation was an option if the gas didn’t work so she wouldn’t be terrified and when we were there nothing was said to us about that option. Instead they told me this was all normal and that it was common for a child to be scared! My child screamed and cried and thrashed and fought so hard begging to stop. They didn’t give my child a break, didn’t explain what they were doing or why, they shouldn’t have brushed off her emotions and words because of her age...all along reassuring me this was all protocol and normal. I will not be taking either of my kids back after consulting other dentists and their pediatrician today who all said THIS IS NOT GOOD PRACTICE and no child should have to get restrained and that terrified

The Doctors here are very friendly and willing to work with patients who don’t have money up front. As a parent, I’m extremely empressed and would recommend Adventure Dental, Vision and Orthodontics to any parent looking for a one stop place with outstanding customer service! Thank you for taking good care of my daughter!

Been coming to Adventure Dental since my daughter was a baby. My sisters have always brought my nieces here too. The staff is always super friendly, and makes sure my daughter is taken care of. When my daughter needed cavities filled, they worked with me to get a referral so she could be put under anesthesia for the procedure. I will continue to bring my daughter here.

This was my daughter's first time at the dentist and they were awesome. The dentist and assistant were both really friendly and good about talking to her about what they were doing before they did it so she wouldn't be scared. I was very impressed with the overall experience and will be going to Adventure for all of her dental appointments.
