I didn't see Edward Smith but for a few minutes, this is all about his awfully mannered dental hygienist Filo took several Xrays (22 counting the times she messed up) of my teeth which seemed not only uncomfortable but excessive considering the condition of my teeth. She was extremely unfriendly even when I tried to engage in slight conversation. The other hygienist seemed to "laugh off" oh she left that heavy lead vest on you and the xray thing pointed right at you while she checked "just in case she messed up" I'm sure she was new, why? because I asked her. I tried to at least engage in some conversation after that because she seemed to cross and intimidating and she would cut off basically anything i said. I have anxiety anyway I informed her of this and she just continued being very rude and cross faced, and I have a small mouth every time an xray picture didn't fit my mouth she would seem more and more frustrated with me. There's sometimes that being new can be excusable, but it's all in the attitude and this woman should not work with patients. She went and got some smaller ones at one point when I thought she would keep using that size but she switched back to the bigger size and when I bit on it it sliced my gum in two places which got infected later that week. If they hire people who are so unprofessionally mannered I don't want them treating my teeth. She wasn't necessarily rude this just obviously wasn't her field of work, no patient bedside manner, even for a dentist office. I cancelled my appointment and will be finding another dentist. 2 stars because Edward Smith seemed nice, I just don't want that lady near my mouth!

Dr Smith is excellent! Went in for a crown and he took great care of me. He talked me through the process and I walked out with a smile. Even with the Cov-19 the process went great!!!!
Thank you Dr Smith and staff

This is the best dentist I’ve ever had in my life. Dr. Smith is very personable and his assistants are nice.

Extremely unprofessional and borderline unethical.

Exposed me, when I was pregnant, to radiation after I had disclosed that I was pregnant. Their office did not convey any safety hazards until a follow up appointment was made and one of the dental techs mentioned she wasn't going to do any more bite wings than had already been done due to her personal fear of harming my unborn child.

The dentist who saw me was condescending and unpersonable, which perhaps is not very surprising for someone who would have just authorized the radiation of an unborn baby.

The front desk staff were gossiping the entire time very loudly about how much they didn't like one of their coworkers. This was the least offending action this office took by far, but the lack of professionalism in the workplace should have been a clear indicator that this facility did not have their act together.

Should any problems result with my child, expect a lawsuit. The disregard for innocent life is downright disgraceful.

I think you missed the precipitating reason that I rated your practice unfavorably. This review was made in the perspective of consent and provider disclosure of information necessary for allowing proper consent to procedures.

In accordance with the state of Georgia’s Rules and Regulations over the Georgia Composite Medical Board, Rule 360-14-.04 states that “(1) Except as otherwise provided in Code Section 31-9-6.1 and these rules, a person who undergoes a major surgical or diagnostic procedure shall be informed in general terms of each of the following: (a) The diagnosis of the patient's condition requiring such proposed surgical or diagnostic procedure; (b)The nature and purpose of such proposed surgical or diagnostic procedure; (c) The material risks of such proposed procedure as defined in Board Rule 360-14-.02(10); (d) The likelihood of success of such proposed surgical or diagnostic procedure; (e) The practical alternatives to such proposed surgical or diagnostic procedure; and (f) The prognosis of the patient's condition if such proposed surgical or diagnostic procedure is rejected.” Given that your practice is a dentistry, GA Code § 31-9-6.1 might be more applicable. It reads similarly, however it is too vast to copy in this text.

I agree with you that it would be unethical to allow a patient to feel pain if there is a solution you could provide, but in my case your practice failed to properly inform me of the risks associated until after the fact, therefore committing an unethical act in the process in violation of both Rule 360-14-.04 and GA Code § 31-9-6.1. Dentistry might fall under a differing authority than the Georgia Composite Medical Board and the applicable Rules and Regulations, but all Georgia businesses, physicians, practitioners, etc. are subject to GA legal code.

If I had been properly informed and educated prior, perhaps I could have returned to an earlier provider who had done similar procedures without necessitating the use of x-rays. Perhaps I would have consented to the x-rays, regardless. Whatever I would have chosen would have been a proper, informed and consensual decision that would have taken into account the welfare of my unborn child.

But, that is not what happened. The right to informed consent was not afforded to me and my child could be affected because of it. That is not okay, and that is what both myself and GA law have issue with.

Great care and friendly staff. Dr. Smith is a wonderful dentist who I've seen a handful of times now with no complaints what-so-ever.

This is by far the best dentist I’ve been to. I’ve spent my whole life scared of going to the dentist and uncomfortable. But this place couldn’t of made me more comfortable and at ease, definitely recommend them!
