Coeur d' Alene Family Dentistry: Andrew M. Larson DMD

I’ve been going here for my dental services for over 20 years. Although my original dentist Dr. Gatten has retired; his son in law has more than picked up where he had left off. Dr. Larson is fast, friendly and professional in his craft. Along with a great staff of hygienists and office personnel; you would be hard pressed to find a better dental establishment.

The hygienist, Shannon, was so educational, informative and sweet. Dr Larsen was great and eased my anxiety with a sensitive tooth. Very friendly staff I will definitely be back!

Lori his office scheduler always gets me in if I need services. Dr. Larson and his staff are very friendly and gentle. So thankful for pain free dentistry!

Firstly I would like to start out with, I was referred to Coeur D’Alene family dentistry by a family member who has had wonderful experiences with this office and there payment plans. I, how ever on the other hand, have never felt more ashamed and belittled by a secretary. Upon arrival one of the first things I inquired about was their payment options and was met with an abrupt “We don’t really do that, it depends on the situation”. (As she continues to stare at her computer screen) No further attempts at communicating with me any other options, no further attempts at communication period. So I figured maybe the dentist deals with that. (Not a common thing, but hey, I’ve never been here before, maybe that’s how they work, I’ll give her the benefit of the doubt) my son received his x-rays and has been in pain for a couple weeks, but this was the soonest they could get him in. After raving recommendations, I thought it would be worth the wait. I’m given the verdict on his dental work needed, but was mainly concerned with the immediate situation of the one tooth in pain. So I ask the dentist about their payment options and what my options are. He states that the front desk lady will be able to assist me with all of that and to go ahead and go speak with her while he prepared my son for a filling. So I walk back to the front desk to again ask about their payment options and how I go about setting up my payment arrangements. This is when the shaming began. “We don’t like to do payment plans” “this is your total” (stares at me as what I felt like she was saying caugh it up if you want the services done) “How much can you even afford” “is this even a real mailing address” a story of how her family member who expects other people to pay their bills, all the while still never offering me any options or information about the payment plans they say they offer. At this point I’m beginning to panic because I do not have the amount I was told to be paid and I hear the dentist beginning work on my son. So I interrupt and ask what we can do or if I need to pull my son out of the chair and leave. Being a parent in a situation I have never been in before without insurance (I guess I should have also mentioned that as well from the beginning) feeling the way this lady at their front desk is making me feel, is completely unacceptable. She finally asks “well what can you afford today”, I was told by my referral and a few other patients they just set up payment plans and didn’t have to pay upfront, easy peasy, simple as that. I wasn’t prepared for this, so I told her I had maybe Forty Dollars to my name right this moment, hence the trying to get a payment plan set up. She requests every dollar I had, offered not referral discount, tells me they won’t go past 3 months of payments and hands me my bill. Again staring at her computer mentions these numerous pointless emails filling up her inbox and not a word about us being all set to go, or that I was even finished with the billing, NOTHING! So I’m now standing there clueless as to what is even happening, but I continue to wait for any further communication from this woman and get nothing, so after a few minutes of standing there while she stares at her computer some more I finally ask, “is that everything you need from me?” To which I get a response of “yep” nothing more. So I again attempt at some clarification as to what just happened since I have came to the conclusion she’s not going to offer me an ounce of any information unless I specifically ask her for it. I couldn’t wait to get out of that office. In all the dentist and his assistant were very friendly which is a shame as I will not be returning because of the secretary. I never want to feel like that again in my life. Other reviews seem to love this dentist office, I wish my experience had been the same.

They did an amazing job with my sons wisdom teeth removal. Dr. Larson was very thorough in explaining after care treatment! Thank you very much!

My husband & I are both patients and we really appreciate the professional & friendly atmosphere of the doctor & staff. Dr Larson is very easy to talk with, LISTENS to your concerns & explains any/all of the options.

My Dental technician is the best I’ve found in years , she’s so good in fact I go in every 4 months ! Then for some reason which no one is saying they let her go -
So this is the second surprise I’ve had , first I’m in the chair and some dentist I’ve never seen before walks in and gos to work on me ? Now too day a new dental technician ~ I’m not happy because I don’t like change let alone change on the spot >

Thorough, kind, gentle and friendly. Thanks for fitting me in as a visitor to the area. I appreciated the investigation into my problem tooth and the thoughtful approach to a not very definitive problem. Cda is lucky to have this dentistry team!

My wife and I have been going to cda family dentistry for many years. We have always had a good experience. Nancy is my hygienist and she is wonderful. Dr. Larson is ok too. 😀
