Before coming to Davidson Family Dentistry a few years ago, I HATED going to the dentist. I grew up going to a Pediatric Dentist and aged out of that practice :( I didn't go to the dentist for a long while until I decided to start going to a practice my Parents went to. I went once and didn't go back for about 8 years......you could say I was not a fan of that particular practice......They later closed up shop. I was referred to Davidson by my Sister-in-Law. I was skeptical at first, but soon felt comfortable! They explain everything in term YOU can understand. They take great notes as to things like "sensitive spots". They make you feel comfortable! I had to have a filling fixed and was less than thrilled to get it done. It didn't require any Novocain and I was in and out in about 20 min. NO PAIN! YAHOO. I would and have referred to Davidson Family Dentistry!!!!!

Our long time dentist retired and referred us to Davidson Family Dentistry. Their facility and dental technology is top notch!! Great experience on the first visit for x-rays & cleaning. It's also handy that they have a full service practice with hygienists, dentists, and an oral surgeon on staff. Hopefully we won't need all of the services, but if we do........!!

I have been a patient at Davidson family dentistry for more than 30 years as have other family members. You will get the best care in Des Moines at Davidson family dentistry. They are efficient, immaculate, up on current dentistry practices, friendly, caring, and their office is a Museum.

I typically do not write reviews but after my experience over the last few months, I feel a need to write this review to encourage patients to be advocates for their dental needs and to not be intimidated by the front desk staff. My family has been patients of this office since moving to the Des Moines area 5 years ago and prior to this summer, I would have rated them a 4.
This summer, I had a crown done by another dentist as mine had left the practice. Afterwards, my night guard did not fit.
1. I called the very next day to let the dentist know that my night guard didn't fit. The initial receptionist was very rude and told me that she didn't have an answer and that the dentist wasn't available. There were many heavy sighs before putting me on hold. When she came back on, I apologized for whatever I had said to upset her and repeated that I had no expectation that she would have an answer, but I had to call in in order to let the dentist know. She then apologized and became condescendingly kind.
2. The dentist called and left me a message and asked me to call back but did not leave a time. I called back and again received similar responses to what is described in #1.
3. I eventually went in so the dentist would try to file down the night guard to make it fit. This did not work and I was so frustrated.
4. They offered to have my night guard remade at cost (still over $200 for me because insurance won't cover a new one). This was frustrating because they didn't fit it to the crown.
5. I finally decided to share my frustrations with someone in the office and when she got on the phone, I shared I had some concerns and asked if she was the person with whom I should speak and she sighed and said, "Yes. I guess I can do that." I told her I did not want to share with her if she was not willing to help. I eventually shared all the concerns with her, told her I need to talk with my husband about the cost and would get back to her. I then got a call back saying the main doctor would like to try to get it to fit if I could make it in by 1:00-no other option given. I didn't get the message until after 1:00.
6. Yesterday, I called in to make an appointment to have the night guard remade at the 30% discount but was told the main doctor wanted to try to get it to fit first, so I made an appointment for today.
7. Today, the main dentist said they don't typically fit night guards as they usually have enough give. He then started grinding in the back of my mouth on what I thought was the crown they put in a month ago. He then asked if he could grind one of my top teeth. Through tears I said yes. However, I wish I never would have! When I left, I tried eating and had issues with food sticking in the back, so I felt around with my tongue and it seemed that the back tooth (a crown I have had for 16 years) was rough. I called back to the office to ask which crown he ground down. Diane in the office told me he ground down the crown they put in a month ago, my old crown from 16 years ago, and two top teeth.
I cannot share enough how angry I am. The crown was working just fine and all of my teeth were fine for normal, every day eating and living. It was the NIGHT GUARD that was the issue, yet he ground down two healthy teeth that had NEVER been an issue, a crown from 16 year ago that had NEVER been an issue, and I don't think he even touched the new crown when I feel back there. When I called the office Diane was just on repeat, "I understand. Sometimes they can adjust teeth to get the night guard to fit." She did NOT hear what I was saying. The NIGHT GUARD was the issue and should have been replaced BEFORE grinding down healthy teeth and a perfectly good crown. She kept asking, "What do you want me to do." My response is that they can't undo the grinding of my teeth.
If you read this review, please know that on first appearance and if you are only coming for routing dental work, their office is kind, friendly, and seems great. However, should you have an issue, you need to advocate for yourself!

My son and I have been getting our dental care at Davidson Family Dental for about 4 years now. Everyone there is super friendly. We each had out semi annual exams this week and our hygienists, Amber and Jan were awesome and Doctors Biegert, Stemper and Davidson always provide top notch service. I really enjoy visiting the dentist and Dr David has excellent taste in decorating. I love seeing all of the presidential photos and signatures and then he has his other collections. Davidson Dental is the most awesome man cave. Even the men's restroom has the Super Bowl tickets. And if you get a chance to go along the back wall, the built in cases with all of Dr Davidson's collections are super awesome from military items to Star Wars collections. Doc has it going on!! I can't want till my next appointment in September to see what is new.
And if you want top notch dental care (and who doesn't???) I highly recommend Davidson Family Dentistry. And tell them that I sent you :)

Everyone I have encountered at Davidson Family Dentistry has shown me that I matter. They really care about their patients and take care of them. They cater to the needs of their patients to ensure comfort and work to lessen or alleviate any anxieties.
Going to Davidson Family Dentistry was my first ever positive experience with dentists.
For me, the Christian decor reflected in their patience and understanding... Colossians 3:22-23; 1 Corinthians 10:31.

I don’t know why they have such Good reviews at ALL. Their front desk staff , well the older lady with short white hair is very arrogant and rude, she is condescending to u if u are late for 10 minutes, which I was stuck in traffic coming here from work on my unpaid break ( so I am losing money already) and god forbid u have an accent she makes faces at u as well. Some of the nurses are rude as well and act like ur stupid. I mean the only person I like is my dentist and her nurse. Everyone else Just makes me feel like I’m not welcomed here at all. Very disappointed in their costumer service. How rude and sad.

Davidson Family Dentistry is by far the best dentist I have ever been too. I am super wimpy when it comes to having dental work done and they are always so gracious and kind. I have seen just about every dentist in the office and would definitely recommend them for any service you may need.
