Taylor Dental: A Pediatric Dentist with Mixed Reviews
Taylor Dental is a pediatric dental clinic located in Lake Charles, Louisiana. The clinic offers services such as dental check-ups, teeth cleaning, and cavity fillings. However, the reviews from customers are mixed, with some praising the clinic's staff and services, while others have had negative experiences.
The clinic's hours are from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm from Monday to Friday, and from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm on Saturdays. The clinic is closed on Sundays. The clinic's location is at 2706 Ryan St, Lake Charles, LA 70601, and their phone number is (225) 831-7843.
Some customers have praised the clinic's staff, with one customer mentioning that Ms. Carla and Ms. Irian were "awesome and super pretty" and took care of them while their teeth were being worked on. However, other customers have had negative experiences, with some mentioning that the staff was rude and unprofessional. One customer mentioned that the dentist had a "horrible attitude" and showed no empathy towards their child, who was crying during their appointment.
Another issue that some customers have mentioned is the clinic's location. The clinic is currently working out of a small trailer, which some customers found confusing and difficult to locate. It is recommended that potential customers read through the reviews and carefully consider their options before choosing Taylor Dental as their pediatric dental clinic.

Not very understanding, had an appointment for my kids to get fillings done before the pandemic started. No call to reschedule when they opened back up, plus I called multiple times to check schedules. Then when I do get ahold of them to see when my kids cleaning is this month, I ask about making an Additional appointment for the fillings they had scheduled in March they can’t do it cause they closing every other week. Well I can get into my regular dentist for appointments. Plus they should be understanding cause parents are still working and my kids have been in Texas 90% of the time so I don’t have a huge opening to get them in. Plus their kids still need to be taken care of.

There is no sign on the trailer stating the name of the business. You have to stand outside and fill out the paperwork then go sit in your car to wait. The staff is not very friendly. They both seem like they didnt want to be here. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

I brought my 8 year old daughter to the dentist here several times before when the name was still Kool Smiles and things were good there, so I must say with the name change (Taylor dental) and some of the staff changes, I was a bit worried on how our visit would go and how my daughters dental needs we’re going to be taken care of . My daughter LOVES going to the dentist and I didn’t want that to change. I’ve been very fortunate with her not being scared of dentist. On our way to the dentist we were running a few minutes late, so I called Taylor dental to let them know and they absolutely understood and thanked me for calling. They also tried to look up our insurance over the phone so when we got there we wouldn’t have to be waiting to long or hold anyone up! That is completely awesome to me and that is what I consider that extra step that they did to make our visit more convenient and easy. The staff was completely amazing!!! Haley was amazing!!! She is the awesome lady who cleaned my daughters teeth and took care of everything that the dentist does not do. She took her time with my daughter and was very patient, friendly, and professional. Thank you Haley!!! Everything that was done to her was explained to her step-by-step so she would understand exactly what was going on. (Which I love and appreciate as well) The dentist was a new one since our last visit, so I didn’t know what to expect!!! I LOVE her!!! She is amazing with the children, she is soft spoken, friendly, professional, and listens to the patient (even children). That is wonderful to me because bringing a child to the dentist is not always a pleasant experience. Most of them are scared or/and terrified. The way she handled things with my little girl, could be very soothing and calming for a child who would be scared or terrified of going to the dentist! I truly feel like she could calm down a screaming/terrified child and be able to do a procedure on them because she is just that good in my opinion! Dr. Collins is her name and I highly recommend her for all of your child’s dental needs, even your own. They do see adult patients there as well. I recommend if you’re reading this to give Taylor Dental and their staff a try. Thank you again to everyone at Taylor dental in Lake Charles, Louisiana. You guys were amazing and I truly appreciate each and every one of you and everything that you did for our visit today! 4/23/2019

During a checkup, my young son needed to have an xray to see of any issues on 1 tooth. He was very uncomfortable in the xray chair and didn't want to take the xray because he was scared. We were asked to try to calm him and hold and comfort him but he cried even when we were with him. They were still insistent he needed it, but we refused because of how bad he was frightened. We changed dentists and have been happy as the new dentist was able to help him feel comfortable.

Crazy long wait time. Made worse by the fact that you have to wait outside. Got here at 1 and waited over an hour for them to see my second child, not to mention there's still the last one. So I guess I'll be here all day watching them take the other patients that got here after us.

My daughter has an abscess tooth and we went in yesterday morning at 8am to get antibiotics. It’s now a day and a half later and still waiting for antibiotics to be sent to our pharmacy. I call multiple times and was reassure that it was being sent out immediately each call, well now it’s Sat Afternoon and they’re closed. They don’t care my daughter is running fever and in pain. Guess we’ll just got to the ER.

-1! We've been going here since it was Kool Smiles. We had issues with Kool Smiles so I moved my two oldest children. I kept my little ones there because I really wanted a Kid Friendly environment (it was semi-kid friendly when it was Kool Smiles...the main issue I had prior to was not so nice dentist and a horrible wait time). We had an appointment on Tuesday. We go in and the front staff was a zillion times better than the previous staff. They actually smile and interact with people. The wait was about 15 minutes (much better than Kool Smiles...we had a wait time of 30 to 45 minutes). We go to the back and the hygienist were great. I immediately saw that they had at least 2 dentist that I'd never seen before and that was a plus. The African American dentist with the curly hair didn't have an attitude this visit (Out of all the times I've been when it was Kool Smiles she only was personable 1 time out of 5). The problem came when it was time to put sealants on my daughters teeth. While the lady (different hygienist than before) was putting sealants on my younger daughter, a child came in screaming. It was the little girls first dental visit. She had another employee and the parent dealing with her. The girl stopped working on my daughter and turned to watch (I had put on my younger daughters paper that she had severe anxiety at dentist). At first I'm thinking maybe she's going to say something to calm the child. But she didn't! She just kept looking (rolling her eyes) and completely stopped working on my baby. She turned back to my child a few minutes later but by then my child had started crying. She said and did absolutely nothing. I removed my daughter from the chair and tried to calm her I calmed her and reassured her that the lady only had 2 left and it wouldn't be long. She lays back down and the lady again said nothing. She pushed the black thing in the corner of my daughters mouth and put the gauze into my daughters mouth (not in a gentle manner). My daughter began crying again! The girl said absolutely nothing to reassure her it would be ok. Then proceeded to roll her eyes when I began removing the bib off of her. I said we'll try again next time. The heifer ignored me and rolled her eyes. I said something smart because by then my level of aggravation was through the roof. I sat down to wait on my second daughter while I consoled my youngest. Another girl walks up (African American with braids...never said one thing to me or my child the entire time we were there and walked by us several time).and says you can go. I said I'm waiting on my other daughter to finish. My other daughter was in a different chair because the girl was still removing bib and glasses from her. The girl says to that hygienist, can you tell her she's done so this lady can go. It took everything in my power not to go to jail. I walked out. I said never again on my way out and a parent sitting by the door stopped me and said your better than me I would be tearing this place up. I smiled and did my consultation. I told the office manager about the situation and will be contacting home office. It isn't worth it to ever be disrespected. I will never ever ever ever go again. Horrible experience! You can change names but unless you change staff completely or retrain things will never improve. Also, I've seen post after post of bad reviews! Follow up is absolutely horrible. I don't need people to pretend to be concerned under a review but do nothing to fix the problems, concerns, or issues in reality!

My daughter had 2 appointments cancelled 2 months in row for a dentist that comes once a month for oral surgery. I was paying Cobra because this was scheduled before I lost my job. They let me know late Friday right before closing of canceled appointment scheduled for Monday morning. Then when we had to drive to Lafayette to get this surgery done in a timely manner because her doctor said her ear pain was caused by wisdom teeth. They didn’t put my daughter to sleep, she could feel the drilling and cracking of bones. She said dentist was mean and we left appointment with no pain medicine had to drive 1 hour to get prescriptions. My daughter was crying and said she has pstd after this experience terrible

Dr. Khan did a phenomenal job with my son's recent dental procedure under general anesthesia. She explained everything and made sure we all felt comfortable and well taken care of. Best dental experience I have had with any of my children. Taylor dental's staff from the front desk to the dental hygienists were all very kind, professional and thorough with all their assessments and explaining the details of the procedures being done. Would definately reccomend you take your children here for their dental needs.

Extremely disappointed in this dentist office. I am new to the area and just recently got on Medicaid. I made an appointment in January for a broken filling/crown (which is painful and I fear will get even worse over time) and, of course, having Medicaid, there are only a handful of dentists to choose from. My appointment is finally coming up March 3rd, so after waiting almost three months for an appointment to get this fixed, they call to inform me that the dentist wants to switch over to only pediatrics and they're cancelling all adult patients. This is absolutely ridiculous, especially when they did not have any other options but for me to call around for a new dentist - Obviously, I do not recommend.
