Exceptional Dental of Uptown

Fortuity brought me to Exceptional Dental’s Uptown spot. A broken tooth at a time my dentist wasn’t in. An impending weekend I didn’t want to suffer through. The first three places I called from a Google search didn’t answer. I don’t know what I was expecting—in all truth, it wasn’t much. Maybe to get a little bond on the tooth to last through the weekend and until I could get in to see my dentist.

My fourth call was to Exceptional Dental Uptown. I was given an appointment within the hour.

While not entirely like an Apple Store, the office kind of shares the ethos of one. The office is immaculate and folks up front are hip and friendly. It *feels* efficient and there’s tech everywhere (and televisions on the walls and ceilings, to boot). Ultimately, I had full pano x-rays ($29) and x-rays with what looked like laser guns.

Here’s where fortune intervened. The dentist who usually works out of the Uptown office was out for an hour and Dr. Bourg, who founded the practice, was filling in for him during the brief interval. Dr. Bourg met with me, discussed my (unpleasant) options, and asked me about my dentist. I gave him my dentist’s name, and it turns out he had his mobile number. Dr. Bourg then called my dentist (and, throughout, was very respectful of my longstanding relationship with my dentist), explained my plight, handed his personal cell phone to me, and left the room so I could talk through my options with my dentist in private.

Turns out, Dr. Bourg offered to take out my tooth, do a bone graft, and set an implant—all on zero notice on a Friday when, let's be honest, a reasonable dentist filling in for a colleague as was Dr. Bourg would probably hope to be in and out within an hour. My dentist not only knew Dr. Bourg would do the job right but recommended that I go forward with the procedure if Dr. Bourg would do it. In the end, I walked into the office at 10:30 not knowing any of the professionals there and hoping for a modicum of temporary relief for the weekend and walked out before 1:00, with an implant and Dr. Bourg’s mobile number in case I had any questions. I’ve seen others go through a similar process, but suffer for weeks between trips to the dentist, consults with oral surgeons, and, finally, oral surgery. Again, my process took 2 ½ hours and, in getting the implant done at the same time as the tooth extraction, saved me about three months in recovery time.

The procedure itself was painless and swift and, so far, so good. The people who assisted Dr. Bourg were incredibly gentle, clearly knowledgeable, and attentive. I have a low threshold for pain, and I wouldn’t be writing this review if that threshold had been exceeded in any way.

In short, an unqualified five-star review. The practice truly lived up to its name, as did Dr. Bourg and the staff.

The Dental Assistant Reginald augustin is one of the best, and all around ready to assist at any time! Dr foster was great ! Highly recommend this office ! To anyone !

This was a very through visit. Dr Nguyen, the dental hygienist and the dental assistant Reginald were extremely professional and caring. I’m so happy I was able to find such a wonderful dental office after my previous dentist retired.

This is the best dentist I’ve ever visited. The customer service was great, the team made me feel welcome and like family. They assured me that I wouldn’t have to worry and wouldn’t have any pain and they did just that.

I was on vacation in New Orleans when I had a tooth issue. They got me in same day and were incredible!!! I wish this office was in my howntown, I'd be a customer forsure. Can't say enough about the entire staff.

My experience at Exceptional Dental was great. Dr. Mary and the assistant Reginald were the best. Took great care of me and were able to complete everything I needed in one visit.

JoAnn did such a great doing my dental molds! Not always the easiest or most fun thing to have done and she made me feel comfortable and informed throughout the whole experience! Was in and out in 20 minutes!

They have amazing service and great hospitality especially the person who works the front desk her name is Kristina and the service is amazing because for dental work they make sure you’re as numb as possible so you don’t feel a thing and I’ve had that experience with Dr. Foster.

Amazing they were professional made me feel comfortable as possible and the service was fast and smooth highly recommend if I had more wisdom teeth I’d come back there thank you Jarvis and Dr. Mary excellent work
