Carolina Mountain Dental

Carolina Mountain Dental has been great to our family since moving here 6+ years ago. Jessica my hygienist and Dr. Efird have taken excellent care of our dental needs and always ask about family and friends we have discussed on previous visits. The staff are all professional and treat us as family rather than patients.

I have been going to Dr. Efird for years and Jessica is my hygienist. She's a true pleasure and a rare gem. The office is always incredibly organized and pleasant. It makes the whole experience enjoyable.

I worked with Jessica today for the first time. She did an impressive and thorough job with my dental needs, and in addition, she made me feel like a family member in the process. I am not usually one to write reviews of anyone or anything online. Nonetheless, I thought that the care I received was beyond expectations and that others might recognize the value of this dental practice from reading about my experience.

Everyone at Carolina Mountain Dental is wonderful! Jessica has been my hygienist for two years and she is amazing. Dr. Efrid has done a fantastic job of making sure my teeth stay in great shape. I highly recommend the entire practice!

Dr. Efird and hygienist Jessica Norris are highly skilled professionals who do excellent dental work, and they are both caring and compassionate individuals. Kathy and Vicky manage scheduling and insurance issues with friendliness and efficiency.

I have been with Dr. Efird and his team for years. (By the way, there is no 'turn over' in this office. Everyone seems happy to not only care about patients, but to be working with one another.) Dr. Efird has helped me over time to make dental decisions for the health of my teeth, always considering my budget.
Recently I had some major work on some cracked front teeth. Dr. Efird worked tirelessly for hours to get things 'just right'...color & size, such as an artist might. I really appreciate that and am so happy with the result that I 'wear' everyday!
I have never felt rushed or pressured in Dr. Efird's care. Everyone here is genuine in their patient care.

My daughter was in for a cleaning this morning... she is a type one diabetic and is 6 years old. I explained from the first phone call dropping her off was not an option. That we would require a private room. As we arrive I am made to feel like this is an annoyance. The hygienist did a very amateur job. I asked multiple times about doing sealants on her teeth. We had an appointment at a different office that advised this should be done after cleaning her teeth 6 months ago.( we came here due to insurance coverage) Instead of doing this or even discussing it, again I was told they only do that in the open area and that it could be upsetting because they have to hold their mouth open for a certain period of time.... so I said again, she can’t be away from me due to monitoring her glucose levels especially in an uncomfortable situation (esp with people proven to not understand nor care about a potential life and death situation) again.... nothing else said other than, “well she did good today” lol Medical staff need to be informed of situations like this, clearly you don’t get it, but the day you have a diabetic child loose consciousness due to your inability to provide proper care maybe you will. This place was a nightmare for us. Even taking her out to do xrays the “hygienist” didn’t understand I needed to get her reading first. Totally unacceptable. I’m honestly concerned if they even covered her appropriately due to her devices being susceptible to damage of an X-ray machine. You know the $2,000 worth of diabetic maintenance devices she wears! Again. Apparently not a concern to them. I mean, they didn’t even put a bib on her to “prophy” her teeth. A device used to polish. But this is what the “hygienist” used as a cleaning tool. Lol I was literally in shock at what we experienced here today. Non educated staff. Not a sterile environment. Not professional. Not attentive to the patients needs as a type one. We will not be returning. Dr.Yurko in waynesville is absolutely awesome!!! And I would rather pay out of pocket for proper care then to have my child undergo this again. Awful experience.

I came here as an emergency from out of town because a tooth fell out while on vacation. The receptionist fit me into their schedule at the last minute. They did an amazing job. I am very sensitive to dental nerve pain and the dentist and dental assistant made sure I was numbed up really well. They both are very professional and took the utmost care in deciding what to do and then doing it. I had to come back for a second appointment to complete a crown. They fit both appointments in for me, and I am extremely grateful. I would switch to this dentist if I lived in Asheville!

I only started at this office a couple months ago after a consultation. I was very happy with the following double crown work I received. Dr. Efird and his staff are knowledgeable and professional with friendliness that makes one comfortable in this intimate office setting. Very pleased and ready to refer this team to anyone looking for a fine dentist office.

after spending 30+ years avoiding dentists..an abscess forced me into searching for a dentist. Google led me to Carolina Mountain Dental and Dr. Efird. I called and explained my situation and my history(or lack thereof) to Kathy and she got me right in. i cant begin to describe my fear and how much at ease the staff made me. Stephanie, Vicky and Dr. Efird were so positive and optimistic and most of all non judgmental of my poor decisions and set forth a plan. I have had many broken teeth pulled, comprehensive cleaning by Jessica(the best) and some fillings and a crown and am happy to report a healthy mouth and a more confident smile!!! Most of all, i can be a good example to my two daughters!!! Do not hesitate...call them and get on your path to good oral care!!!
