The pros: The scheduling staff were helpful and kind. The dentists do quality work, at least with the extraction I had done.
The cons: There are some major opportunities here. Filled out a form initially online for an appointment and had to follow up three weeks later because it led to nothing.
Showed up for an oral exam and had to have numerous X-rays done, many of which needed to be repeated due to a lack of quality. Even some of the finals were hard to read.
I find it interesting that they had to schedule an oral exam and a cleaning separately. At least in my experience, these can be done on the same day.
With low quality X-rays, I was given a $3000 treatment plan that included a root canal, a porcelain crown, and a wisdom tooth extraction. I had originally scheduled as my wisdom tooth had grown in and was causing pain, so I was a bit taken aback that I was told to get a root canal.
After reviewing the X-rays with my mother (a dental assistant) and then gaining a second opinion from a reputable dentist (who took more thorough X-rays), it was determined cavities were minimal and a root canal was entirely excessive.
Feeling discouraged, but in pain from my wisdom tooth, I continued forward a single wisdom tooth extraction. Originally, on the treatment plan, they put down an extraction of both my top wisdom teeth, but I opted for one due to my concerns with the practice and the healing process, as well.
(P.S On the treatment plan, they charged anesthesia at 100% my responsibility, even though my insurance confirmed they cover 80%)
I received a new treatment plan with just the wisdom tooth extraction and noticed that the extraction was suddenly more expensive. Typically, an exposed tooth is cheaper to extract than one that is impacted or covered by gums, and I was being charged for the latter when it was the former. I’m willing to chop this up to a mistake, but with the other info it doesn’t seem like it.
The surgery went well, luckily, but as I was starting to retain feeling in my mouth (I was awake and numbed, which was fine), I noticed I was not told to bite down on anything. The assistant informed me she was “pretty sure” they put gauze in there, but did not check. As I get to my car, I look in the rearview mirror to see, indeed, there were no gauze to clot the bleeding.
There’s a lack of competency and a “lust for money” type of vibe here that is reminiscent to corporate chains like Western Dental. I would advise to stay away in order to avoid getting up-charged and deceived on unneeded services.

Office is still implementing Covid 19 precautions, so be prepared to wear a mask, have temperature taken, sit apart, wash hands, gargle with mouthwash, and fill out questionnaire. The wait wasn't very long and the exam was thorough. Two doctors actually examined my son and gave me their medical opinion in layman's terms. We will continue with their treatment plan as they accept our insurance and seem very qualified.

Is always a pleasure to schedule an appointment with Dental on Central. I’ve been a patient here about 10 years and I keep returning! A dental visit is a vital part of your health routine so keep it comfortable.

Dishonest place!
I scheduled an appointment for my 2 year old just to get her familiar with the dentist. I did receive a phone call that my daughter was not covered through my dental, I told them she wasn't under that plan but she was supposed to be covered through my BC/BS so they would verify and call me back. I did receive a call back and I saved the voicemail when they tell me that we are good to go my daughter is covered. I take her to her appointment, the only thing the Doctor did was get her comfortable to where he could brush her teeth and floss and put some type of "vitamin" on her teeth THAT IS ALL THEY DID. So I'm driving home and I get a call from the office I don't pick up. I get home and there they are calling me again. I don't answer, and they try my husbands phone, I finally answer and it's to tell me I owe them 250.00 dollars! so absurd! I tell them I will not pay this money since she is covered and they try to explain that I have to meet my deductible of 1000 that they don't cover preventive care. So I call this morning and speak with the manager who was very rude!! after I told her I didn't have the money to pay now she disconnected the call!! how unprofessional!
After that conversation I call my insurance and ask them about the situation, they explain to me that MY DAUGHTER IS COVERED AT 100% for any preventive dental care that THIS OFFICE IS SUBMITTED A CODE TO GET THE PRICE CHARGE FOR A PORCELAIN CROWN!!! My daughter does not need a porcelain crown!! I regret ever going to this dental office! They either really don't know what they are doing at the front desk or they are trying to get money by billing services that were never done on patients!!

I’m using my wife’s google account to post my review, as I do not have one. I cannot say enough about this dental office! I feel so comfortable with Dr. Herro, and even though the location is nowhere near my residence, I continue to go here because of the amazing health professionals. The front staff is always friendly, but my hygienist Sherri is the one I am truly thankful for! I used to despise going to the dentist because of previous bad experiences, particularly when my teeth were being cleaned. Sherri took the time to listen to my concerns on my first visit, and she always remembers what bothers me and works around that, while still doing the job. She is professional but still maintains a wonderful sense of humor that puts me at ease. She isn’t like other hygienists I’ve had that ask a bunch of questions while your mouth is full and you can’t answer. Sherri just makes general conversation that I can listen to or nod at, and that makes the time go by quickly. She helps take my mind off the task at hand and is so attentive, checking on me and making sure I’m comfortable with the procedure she’s doing. It’s obvious she cares about her patients and that she is a true professional following all health and safety guidelines. I would recommend this office hands down. I’m not sure how many dentists or hygienists work here, but ask for Sherri as your hygienist and Dr. Herro as your dentist... you won’t regret it!

Dr. Herro and his team are wonderful! I had taken my daughter (with special needs) to several other dentists and she wouldn’t let anyone look in her mouth. She let Dr. Herro look in her mouth at our first visit! Coco is outstanding and made my daughter feel comfortable. She had to be put to sleep for x-rays, cleaning, an extraction and two fillings. Afterward she didn’t complain of any oral pain and said “the shot was just a tiny pinch”! I am so thankful to Dr. Herro and his team for taking amazing care of my daughter. Thank you so much!

I experience extreme anxiety when going to the dentist. I actually avoid it as long as I can. When my tooth started hurting to point that I had no choice, I braved the dentist. Dr. Herro was amazing. He was reassuring and understanding. This is the second time I have seen him for this type of issue and both times I have felt at ease. I recommend him to everyone I talk to.

Dr. Herro and staff at Dental on Central (DOC) are kind, caring and compassionate. My family trusts DOC for all its dentistry and will continue to do so. In fact, we think so much of the office that we come back to Phoenix from our home in San Diego for cleanings, etc.
Do yourself a favor and make an appointment with Dental on Central for your next dental service. You'll be very happy with the results.
