Dr. Deems' treatment yesterday cost significantly less than the estimate. But more importantly, when I first sought treatment he identified an underlying acid reflux problem which had apparently been damaging my teeth for many years, yet had never been identified before by any other dentist or anyone else. He requested I see a physician which I did. I dealt with the acid reflux problem first with medicine and then (this worked better for me) by slanting the bed and sleeping on my back (instead of stomach). You may have seen standard advice not to sleep on your stomach: Believe it.
I believe the rate of acid-caused deterioration of my teeth has slowed greatly. Other problems have also improved greatly, if not 100% in every case, as a result of addressing the acid reflux: recurring hoarseness, frequent throat clearing (which Dr. Deems had brought to my attention), recurring otitis media (fluid buildup behind the eardrums, not common in adults), upper back/neck/chest muscle tightness/posture issues (in part from sleeping on stomach), and frequent heartburn (which to my surprise turned out to be due in part to a duodenal ulcer rather than the esophageal damage I had expected).
I think this is a lot to spring from what I originally thought would be just another visit to another dental office for treatment of a specific tooth problem, like other visits I have had over the years. Although I wish this had happened years if not decades sooner, I am grateful that it finally did happen. Thank you Dr. Deems and count me as an enthusiastic client.

My experience was good at my recent cleaning app't.
At times, I have an issue with the instruments tearing the corners of my lips/mouth which take several days to heal. Anything that can be done to minimize this would be welcome. Naturally, I do understand it is difficult to reach the back teeth without some stretching. Not a major problem. Thanks for your thorough care. --JM
