Love Dr Ray I have been going to him for years. Gentle dentist, I have a fear of the dentist and he has managed to get me not to be so afraid of the dentist. He has done my braces there.

Get a second opinion on TMJ treatment!
Friendly staff, nice waiting room, good office. But Dr. Ray was not the right fit for me.
I went to see Dr. Ray at the recommendation of another doctor because my TMJ was so bad, I could barely eat. I have a rare disease that affects my bones/jaw, but I don’t think it was ever taken seriously—especially when he promised me he could get me off some of my medication. I’m not on the kind of medication you can “get off of." (I have since learned to bring information with me and ask the doctor to read it while I’m with them so I can answer questions. A lesson hard learned multiple times.)
I did 10 months of treatment with the TMJ guard and while I initially had improvement, I had increasing pain and vertigo for the last four months. By the end of the treatment, I had vertigo almost daily and still couldn’t eat well!
At this point, without the device, only my front teeth touched. My jaw was massively pulled forward. Most importantly, my jaw was not straight.
Despite my concerns, Dr. Ray wanted to transition immediately to braces to keep my jaw in the position it held at the end of treatment. I finally decided to go get a second opinion...then a third. I ended up getting six separate opinions and had a sleep apnea test. Every single doctor/dentist/orthodontist outside of Dr. Ray had the same decision: “Do NOT get braces right now. You jaw is too unstable.”
Another orthodontist offered to call Dr. Ray to speak with him about the concerns. They stated that Dr. Ray and them came to the conclusion that I would have an “in-between device” to stabilized my jaw. I would continue to see Dr. Ray for this device.
When I called Dr. Ray back to speak with him about everything, our conversation did not go well. He was upset that I “didn’t believe him” and told me my options were a metal appliance I would wear for life or braces, contrary to what the orthodontist had said.
I canceled my appointments, and eventually decided to go to Michigan Smile Design, which has helped me immensely since week 1. I have no more pain or vertigo since reversing Dr. Ray's treatment.
I would highly, HIGHLY recommend getting a second opinion before you do any jaw/mouth work, no matter what doctor you see. I spent $3000 + time off work + gas + hours traveling to Dr. Ray’s, and now have spend even more money to undo the damage to my jaw.
All in all, I would not recommend for anything more than basic dental work. See an orthodontist for jaw/braces/TMJ issues.

Great service - front desk, hygienists, Dr. Ray. Never a long wait, and flexible if I call to say I'm running late. Love that dental and orthodontic care are both offered. Very glad I switched to this office a few years ago!

Fantastic place! Been going to Dr. Ray since I was kid and have always been so happy with the service/experience. Currently in adult braces for TMJ and am so happy with the results. Won't go anywhere else for my teeth.
