I was in town for a tournament and wanted a chipped tooth repaired. Dr Mark got me in at 8am the next day. The price was literally half of what I thought I should pay but don’t tell them that. I highly recommend using this dental group!

The first red flag was when I had 25 teeth pulled partially awake ( I had that blue pill), and Dr. Maffeo was mad that his assistant Mondo, kept getting called away which was making the procedure take longer. Mondo was supposed to soley be HIS assistant for the entire procedure. At the end of the five hour ordeal, Dr. Maffeo was so upset because this was making things take longer, he wasn't even there to tell me how it went, how bad the bleeding was, or to be there when we attempted to put the temporary dentures in. That supposed "Big " moment..
The following day, I was expecting a call from him, or at least SOMEONE from the office to check up on me and make sure that everything was okay. Especially, since Dr. Maffeo was MIA after all of the extractions. No one ever called! I have always received follow up calls from previous dentists the following day after having a tooth pulled. Even if it was just one tooth. This was twenty five teeth pulled!!
When I was at my post op appointment I asked Dr. Maffeo why he was so upset at the extraction appointment, and why he wasn't there at the end, etc. He told me the reason, which is what I have stated above. I told him I thought maybe I had done something because of him being nowhere to be found, and no follow up call the day after surgery. He said no, it had nothing to do with me, but didn't apologize. I had a lot of bleeding after the extractions, So I was instructed not to wear my temporary dentures to allow my gums to heal for a period of time. This delayed things for quite some time.
Before we could get my dentures fixed, I had to go in because I had a piece of bone that had re-surfaced through my gum and had caused an infection. Dr. Maffeo could not get me numb. I am assuming I couldn't get numb because of the infection. (Looking back on this, I believe once he saw the infection, he should have sent me home before proceeding with a script for antibiotics, and re-schedule the appointment...). Because he couldn't get me numb, this was hindering his surgical removal of this piece of bone because of the pain it was causing. This was taking a long time, as well as causing me tremendous pain.... Finally, Dr. Maffeo got VERY frustrated and said, " I don't have time for this! ". He then ripped off his gloves, stormed out of the room, and left me sitting in the chair! The assistant Mundo and I just looked at each other. At that point, Mundo told me that Dr. Maffeo had never done this before... Funny, he was the same assistant that was there the day he had left me in the exam room at the end of my five hour procedure when all of my extractions were done. Very unsettling to say the least. This left me in tears.
Also, I had numbness in my lower cheek, and the tip of my tongue. I told Dr. Maffeo this, and it was noted in my chart. I had a CT scan, and the results showed no evidence of a stroke. So unclear as to what has happened.. All I know is that I did not have this problem before my extractions...
Fast forward about three years, I have no insurance, dentures that I cannot wear because I sound funny when I speak, and and they hurt my mouth to eat with them. I can only eat food that I can mash against the roof of my mouth. I was hoping that the partial lower cheek paralysis and tongue numbness was temporary, but three years later nothing has changed.
I have been notified by the office that Dr, Maffeo has apologized. I am not quite sure for which issue. I also have the option to go back to the office to have them try to fix my dentures, and this option has been there for quite some time. However, I am not comfortable with this option for obvious reasons. I cannot partake in outings with family or friends because I cannot eat with my dentures, or speak properly. Because of this I stay home.

Simply an unfortunate emergency out of town on vacation visit. Had a abscess under a crowned tooth. They set me up well to keep me very comfortable until I get home. (ie. the right medications and antibiotics). Thank You oh sooo much! Already have an appointment with my regular dentist at home.
