When I schedule my appointment, it was to see if I could get a chipped tooth fixed. I had a full mouth x-ray done. The dentist told me I would only need a fill and they could do it that day. When the assistant came in the room I asked if I could get a cleaning today as well. She told me she had to get with the hygienist. 30 minutes later the hygienist comes in and pokes in my mouth a total of 4 times, one for each quadrant. She proceeds to tell me that I have periodontal disease and I canât get a regular cleaning done. Then they tell me that I canât get my tooth filled that they had just told me they could do. I was presented with a treatment plan for deep scaling, an expensive toothbrush as well. That day I called the Dental Works on Austin Peay, I was able to come in and get a thorough examination of my gums to confirm if I actually needed deep scaling done. I was told that I donât have periodontal disease. I only have a mild case of gingivitis that could be prevented with flossing more. I was also able to get my teeth cleaned that day. I was able to schedule to get my chipped tooth filled as well. I am highly disappointed because I thought that health care professionals should have your best interest at heart.

From the phone call to scheduling all the way to the checkout desk- every employee that I encountered greeted me with a smile and kind words. Dr. Castillo is professional, wise, understanding, and has THE BEST bedside manor. I would recommend this office (park ave) to everyone I know.

I having being going to this location for years. The staff is usually friendly but the past couple of years their admin. staff has been rude and unprofessional whenever you question the billing, they get angry. I went there last week because my crown came out. Yesterday they put it back in and yesterday it came out again. Yesterday I was quoted $1300 and again today I was quoted $1300 upon speaking with Dr. Dietz I was quoted $832 when it came time to pay I was told I owed $2000 so of course my question is how do we go from $1300 to $800 and now $2000 and instantly the receptionist gets angry and then tells me that I used up all my benefits this year when they did a root canal and treatment so now my question is why didn't you check benefits before quoting me the first time $1300 and now the receptionist is outrageously rude and saying it's just an estimate and she didn't give me the quote. So not only is she rude and unprofessional she is a liar. Dr. Dietz is great, his assistant is great but the admin/receptionist are terribly rude and unprofessional whenever you have questions about the bill/quote.

I was treated very badly at the Park Ave. office AND this is not the first time. I stopped going for a year because of prior problems with the front desk staff. But I decided to try again because they are a block from my house. And I was hoping the front desk had changed. It hasn't.
I went in this week for a cleaning. It went well. On check out I was charged 50% of the full price for a cleaning. When I questioned them, knowing my insurance pays 100%, they (front desk) were very rude insisting I was wrong. So I called my insurance company and they confirmed my cleanings were 100% paid. They also called Dental Works and informed the billing staff to this. By the way, my insurance rep also commented about the staff's rude attitude. After 15+ years, maybe longer, I will not be returning to this office. This is too bad because I really like Dr. Dietz and dental techs.
