I had come to this dentistry a few times throughout my adult life for normal dental work, cleanings and the occasional filling. I had a cavity filled here in December of 2019 and I could instantly tell something was wrong while the doctor was drilling my tooth for what seemed like forever. During this period of time, I was living out of state and had this dental work done while visiting home for the holidays. Typically when I have had fillings before, the tooth is sore or sensitive for a day or two and then it is business as usual. Not this time, the pain lingered for months. Some days very painful, some days no pain. It all came to a head in May of 2020, five months after the filling, where I was in so much pain I needed to see someone immediately. I had developed a nasty infection in my jaw and was prescribed antibiotics, which took care of the pain and the issue, or so I thought..
After a routine teeth cleaning at a new dentist in my new town of residence, upon review of the most recent x-rays, the tooth that Dr. McLaren filled recklessly is now dead. I am to get a root canal and a crown on this tooth. Is this a life or death situation? Of course not, but it is very aggravating that none of this should be happening. As someone who loves their smile and does his part in keeping my teeth clean, it is really discouraging that someone else's lack of attention to detail and mediocre focus has caused me to basically have to lose a tooth. I'm still in my 20s and have only had a half dozen cavities in my entire life.
Sure the staff is friendly, the facility is nice, but nobody should have to lose a tooth like I am about to. If you need a filling, I would strongly suggest going elsewhere. Somewhere where the doctor cares about you as a person and not just a box to check off on their daily to-do list.

I had an emergency with a tooth and my own dentist would not contact me back. I contacted several dentists without a response. I then contacted McLaren and they actually answered my call (been challenging with COVID) they could have gotten me in next day but with my schedule I waited until the following Monday. They were very professional, the dentist explained everything to me from the why’s this happened to the treatment options to the costs and explored all of the solutions and informed me on all the different factors to think about in coming to a decision. I was very pleased and have a treatment plan that was developed with me in mind (Client centered). Thank you.

Dr. Charles is an easy going and caring dentist and is concerned with your well being. I would recommend this establishment to everyone especially if you are uncomfortable with dentists.
