I wrote a long tldr review before but figured it would be best to summarize. In a word: barbaric. I'm no softy when it comes to pain and long needles, but the dentists and hygienists who have seen me at this location usually hit a nerve sending shockwaves through my skull - that's with both the old regime with Dr. Nelsen (who was also shaky with that needle) and new management. They managed to dork up at least 2 root canals - one was crooked that messed with a neighboring tooth (and eventually had to be pulled) and another from 2021 that developed a crack and is now abcessed. Also noticed this location was a big revolving door for rookie dentists and hygienists - coming and going. They would use my teeth as a practice model, screw things up and then they leave. After my last horrible visit over a year ago, I said no more. Went back to my old dentist in Wichita and since then have never experienced pain. He is shocked by my past dental work - "who did that?!" I say " that was Derby Dental... " "alright, well you're going to feel some pressure, let me know if..." to which I say "don't worry. I been to Derby Dental, I can take anything..."

They are used car salesman in Scrubs.

They refuse to give you any estimates over the phone including a simple range. I went in to talk about fillings they refuse to talk about anything else but a rootcanal. They only took X-rays of one tooth when I need fillings on four different teeth... as a nurse and a former service member I can tell you with first-hand experience tragic things happen when medical staff don't listen to the complaints of the patient. The staff stood by me as if I was death and constantly complain about being at work and working on their day off and how much they hated certain procedures (like taking x-rays) while they were in the process of x-raying my tooth, then began to gossip about another employee while they were less than 2 ft from me as I was sitting in the dental chair. Initially I was thankful that they had so many openings and that they could get me in quickly now I see why

I had crack in my tooth on a Sunday and was in there at 8 am on Monday. They new I was needing it extracted right away and didn't hesitate to get me in and get it done. Back to work in a couple hours. It was all pain free. Yes a little sore. God Bless them all.

I wish I knew who my dentist and hygienist was today (Mon. Feb 13th at 8am)..but they were amazing! I hope I get them everytime..even for my wisdom tooth removal at the end of march.

The only down fall to this place is you may not always get the same dentist or hygienist.

Was anxious n Dr. Gave options to sort out the problems. So step one done. Painless n quick.waiting on the result of the Dr. Tapping aggressively on a good tooth in order to check where my source of pain is from. A day later, oh my gosh! I’m in pain from the good tooth of him tapping!

The most caring, personable dentist I have ever been too. They really care about their patients and will do what they can to help!

This is the best dentistry in Wichita! Ravyn gives the best cleaning I’ve ever had. Thanks for everything!

Dr. Shirk and his assistant (whose name I cannot remember right now, I'm sorry) are amazing. I had an emergency situation develop overnight on a Friday and was able to be seen the next day, treated and follow up appointments scheduled.

I have had horrible experiences at other dental offices and will absolutely put off going to the dentist unless absolutely necessary.

This experience changed that, I can already tell. They were kind and respectful and considerate from the first phone call til the moment we left. They provide a comfortable atmosphere, explained every step of the process, and I will definitely be returning.
