Before you make an appointment, be sure to call to see what insurance they accept. My dentist sent an email that his current practice was becoming Real Life Dental, but there was no mention that RLD doesn’t accept most dental insurance. Nobody mentioned they didn’t accept my insurance (Anthem) until AFTER my cleaning. To be fair, the visit itself was great, but I am left having to pay out of network deductible and copays and nobody mentioned it. I think that is just bad business.

Beth provided professional and caring service during my visit. I tend to get anxious at the dentist. Beth communicated throughout the appointment which was very comforting. The entire team from the receptionist to the folks at checkout make you feel like they are family.

First rate care, but review and know what your insurance pays because they will do everything even if your insurance doesn't cover it, then you are left with a bill you did not plan on. Example, said I needed x-rays. Bite wings are covered, but they also took two x-rays of my caps. Long story short, when I was leaving expecting all of it to be covered, I got hit for over 200.00 for x-rays. Not happy at all.

My former dentist office was closing so I decided on Real Life Dental. I appreciated the time the hygienist took explaining what he was doing as well as what to expect from the visit. It seems to be a larger practice and so that allowed me to make an appointment more quickly and be seen by a doctor.

BLACKSBURG OFFICE: If I could give them no stars I would. They don't answer calls, they cancel appointments, admin staff for this place is the worst situation I've ever seen. Medical care has been great, but the rest is the most unprofessional waste of time I've ever experienced. If you have nothing but time and a lot of energy to focus on relentlessly pursuing getting each dental visit/request addressed then this is the place. But if you feel that minimal effort should be spent in reaching out and addressing such things, this place is a full on nightmare.

Today was my first visit/cleaning here. The hygienist (Brittany?) was great—friendly, helpful, and let me know what she was doing every step of the way. As someone with “dental anxiety”, I have no complaints about today’s experience.

I have anxiety from past experiences at various dentists. This was the best experience I've ever had at a dentists office. Dr. Kim was amazing and his assistant and the staff. I have been looking for a dentist for 3+ years and I think I found my dentist! I would highly recommend this office.

I love the special care Dr. Thompson gives and the kindness, cleanliness, and comfort of the whole place and staff. Today I got to watch my crown (insta tooth) get sculpted in their state of the art equipment. Same day crowns are the best, especially when saving an uncomfortably broken tooth. I have been grateful for RLD’s excellence for over 20 years.
